It has been quite some time since we have been using the Huawei FreeBuds 3. And in that time we have able to experience many of its core features. It definitely isn’t perfect, however, it ticks many of the right boxes. One thing that is difficult to debate is how good the audio quality is. But is good, good enough to shell out Rs 20,900. Well, let us find out in this article.

Powering the whole audio set up of the FreeBuds 3 is the Kirin A1 SoC and a 14mm Driver. The inclusion of a dedicated in-house silicon helps Huawei provide exceptional audio quality.

The sound is rich and pleasant around the mids. The bass-levels are not over the top unlike many earbuds these days. The bass is ample and as per my liking. No issues here whatsoever!

Because there’s almost zero physical isolation, outside noise tends to affect out some frequencies, especially at the low end. This is especially due to the open-fit design of the Huawei FreeBuds 3. This is definitely something Huawei needs to work on in their future iteration of the buds. A piston-style earbud with a rubber tip should exponentially improve this. Also, it would help get a tighter fit. Ah oh, yes the noise cancelation also should improve with this changed design.

Besides, the music you can also use the FreeBuds 3 for conference calls/video calls. With work-from-home and virtual set up being the norm these days, it is very important for the earbuds to be able to work to excel in these fields. Here I received some mixed results. The Buds worked marvelously with Google Meet. I was easily able to hear through everything in the meeting. The person on the other side mentioned that I sounded clear, however, there was a bit of echo on my end. This was not an issue when I used my full-blown over-the-head headphone with a dedicated mic.

I, however, blame it on my room which is known to have a bit of an echo now and again. Somewhere, I found mixed results was in Zoom Video call. By default, I was unable to get the microphone to work when using the FreeBuds 3. After multiple re-connect, re-pairing, and tinkering I was finally able to get it to work. I don’t why this happened but I just wanted to put it out there.
