The Huawei P30 Pro is one of the most well-designed phones of 2019. Just like many flagships before it, the phone packs a glass-on-glass design sandwiched by a metallic frame. These two elements work in conjunction to provide the phone with a premium touch and feel.
The glass back is further enhanced by a gradient finish. The unit that we received comes in a ravishing Aurora Blue color. Besides this, the phone also has a Breathing Crystal color option. Another design aspect worth talking about is the curved display flanked by a water-drop notch. They help add a layer of uniqueness to the device. Overall, the Huawei P30 Pro is a great looking device.
Battery
Huawei P30 Pro is a beast in terms of battery life! The phone packs a large 4200mAh non-user removable battery. This translated to great battery life through and through. I was easily able to get almost 2 days worth of battery life with the phone. That too in an unconventional manner of putting the phone through its paces. Truly impressed!
Another thing worth mentioning in the battery side of things is the phones charging capabilities. The P30 Pro comes with a 40W Fast Battery Charger out of the box. This adapter can do 70% in just 30 minutes. That is very impressive! I also love the little animation with the decimal value that pops up, showing the battery percentage, while charging the phone.
The reverse wireless charging capabilities makes an appearance on the phone. Just like the Mate 20 Pro, you can now use the P30 Pro to wirelessly charge capable phones. And yes, the phone does come with fast wireless charging capabilities.
Performance
Huawei has packed in one of the most powerful mobile processors on the P30 Pro. It is the octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 backed by a Mali-G76 MP10 GPU. And top it all off, the phone packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. These combinations make for quite a well-performing phone.
In my day-to-day to performance, I didn’t encounter any sorts of lags or stutters. The overall experience was a smooth one! Speaking of which, this iteration of Huawei’s skin, EMUI 9.1 has been a smooth performer. Although visually I would have preferred an overhaul, the usability aspect is on point. That combined with Android 9.0 Pie helps the P30 Pro bring a ton of cool features and tweaks. All in all, the P30 Pro is one of the most powerful consumer-grade smartphone available in the market right now.
The Extras
The Huawei P30 Pro comes with a lot of extra features that help it stand out of the crowd. One such feature is the IP68 rating which aids the phone in achieving dust and water resistance. The phone also has an in-display fingerprint scanner and a zippy Face Unlock feature. I also appreciate the NM (Nano-Memory) card slot, a new way of expanding the internal memory.
Other small tweaks like the Always on Display, theme store are very useful. I use them all the time! I also adore the vibrating screen ear-piece and the Dolby Atoms Integration. The IR Blaster is another great touch!
