The Nova series is one of the most beloved smartphone series in the world. Being a line up targeted towards youth, the phones resonates with the people of the current generation. They have been superbly catered to the needs of youngsters in a manner no other companies have been able to. And it all began with the international launch of the original Nova alongside the Nova Plus back in 2016 to the unveiling of the Nova 5 series in 2019.
Even in Nepal, the Nova series of smartphones are a super hit! It began with the launch of the Nova 2i. People couldn’t get enough of it! It was a phone ahead of the times in more ways than one. At a period, when people were forced to buy the laggy Samsung mid-tier smartphones, Huawei swopped in and blew everyone’s mind. The 2i was lag-free and offered better value for money. It also was a pioneering phone that bought the dual-camera set up to the mid-tier market.
Next up, we got the Nova 3e, which sits between the Nova 2i and the 3i. The phone had people talking as it packed the notch design. At the time, Apple had just introduced the design in its flagship phone and Huawei was offering it for a fraction of the price. The Nova 3e further built on what the Nova 2i had to offer and metamorphosed into something unique. The glass-on-glass design, the dual-cameras brought the taste of the P20 Pro, Huawei’s flagship, into a more down to earth flavor. The Huawei Nova 3e, no doubt, was one of the best mid-tier smartphones the company had produced, at the time. No wonder it managed to snatch away an Editors’ Choice Award from us.
Next, Huawei came with all its big guns! The company redefined itself with the launch of the Nova 3 and the Nova 3i. With these two phones, Huawei proved they were not playing around. Surprise-surprise the Nova 3 and the 3i were a massive hit in Nepal. The Nova 3i more so than the Nova 3!
The Nova 3i was a beast of a smartphone. It packed everything great about the 3e and then some more! Huawei literally pioneered the gradient back finish (in the mid-tier segment) with the Nova 3i. And people here went bonkers for it! The phone surpassed 2000 phones sold in just 2 hours of opening. That was insane! People lined up in front of Huawei’s showroom (Pako) to get their hands on the phone.
The Nova 3i also managed to sway people away from competing brands. Even in our very own public opinion, the people sided with the Nova 3i over the OPPO F9. To make matters even more interesting is the fact that the F9 was a more expensive phone than the 3i. It also managed to snag away the title of the most sold units in Nepal.
The launch of the Nova 3 and 3i was followed by the Nova 4. The phone was a true premium mid-tier smartphone. It packed the majority of features packed by the P20 Pro, Huawei’s flagship smartphone. The Nova 4 packed the same gradient design, same processing power, and a similar triple rear camera set up. It was a flagship phone in disguise!
And now Huawei is back at it again with the brand new Nova 5T. The phone is the accumulation of all the past trends into a capable premium mid-tier smartphone. The Nova 5T packs a large 6.26 inch Full HD display flanked by a punch hole cut out. It also packs one of the most capable cameras set up on any premium mid-tier smartphone. At the rear, there is a combination of an f/1.8 48MP wide, an f/2.2 16MP ultra-wide lens, an f/2.4 2MP wide, and an f/2.4 2MP depth sensor. These combinations will be capable of taking some amazing photos. The phone also packs an f/2.0 32MP front camera for all your selfies.
Design-wise, the Huawei Nova 5T looks ravishing as ever! The gradient back with the new nova logo looks absolutely amazing. The phone is not all looks as it packs the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. And to top it all off, the 5T packs a 3750mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.
With these specs and looks, the Huawei Nova 5T is looking to take over the Nepali market. The phone definitely seems like a worthy contender in the cut-throat market. It packs the best of both worlds in a package adored by the youth. The phone launches 2 days from today, on the 22nd of September for a price of around Rs 50,000. With all that the Nova series has to offer, there is no scruple why it is one of the highest-selling smartphone series in Nepal. And it will continue to do so, in the future!
