A couple of weeks ago Xiaomi unveiled their latest budget smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi GO in China. After much leaks and rumors, the Chinese tech giant finally took the wraps off their Android GO powered device. The phone, later, was subsequently announced in parts of Europe and Asia. It will now slowly be announced in different parts of the world.
But the question remains, will the phone come to Nepal? Well, in our opinion, it should! Seeing it is an Android GO powered budget smartphone, it would a perfect match for Nepal. For those not too keen on breaking the bank on a smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi Go would be a great fit. Currently, at the under Rs 10,000 price bracket, there aren’t many good smartphones. You will need to spend a minimum of Rs 14,000 to get a decent functioning device. So if Xiaomi could launch the Redmi GO for Rs 9,999 here in Nepal, the phone would sell like hotcakes. People buying under-powered garbage at Rs 10,000 would be able to get a great-great phone.
For those wondering what the Xiaomi Redmi Go has to offer, here is an overview.
Xiaomi Redmi GO Overview
The Xiaomi Redmi GO packs a 5.5 inch HD (720 x 1280) display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the phone packs a Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 along with the Adreno 308 GPU. The SoC is backed by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The memory of the phone can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 128GB.
In the camera department, the Redmi GO packs an f/2.0 8MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. The phone also packs an f/2.2 5MP front camera for all your social media ready selfies.
