Xiaomi has finally updated its gaming android smartphone with the new Xiaomi Black Shark 3S. Recently, the gaming scene for Android phones has seen drastic improvement with annual updates to the famous Asus ROG smartphones along with new contenders from the iQOO brand. So, it is assuring that a major brand like Xiaomi is also focusing more on the gaming segment to deliver powerful devices. Xiaomi Black Shark 3S hangs around the mid-tier flagship devices which sound like a cheaper alternative to the Asus ROG 3 with its $680 price tag.
Features & Specifications
Usually smartphones these days follow a similar aesthetic of curved design with a smooth finish, however, Xiaomi Black Sharks 3S shines with its gaming aesthetics and bold design. Not only the phone looks good, but it also offers additional functionalities for an easier gaming experience. For example, Black Shark 3S features 6 built-in somatosensory controls that give two additional touch-sensitive shoulder buttons on the phone. These can be used as trigger buttons for shooting games along with many custom options.
Xiaomi Black Shark 3S comes with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. It also has a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate alongside a 270Hz touch sampling and 17ms latency. In short, the games are going to be highly responsive with minimal visual and input lag. Even if there are few high refresh rate, its built-in MEMC 3.0 tech can output regular games at high refresh rates. As for additional input options, Black Shark 3S also offers Screen Pressure 4.0 features which can be used to assign different functions in the game.
In terms of performance, the specs look the same as the Black Shark 3 with its Snapdragon 865 processor at the center. Although it is a solid flagship option, it only falls short against the newly announced Snapdragon 865+. Besides that, Black Shark 3S boasts 12GB RAM along with storage options from 128GB to 512GB.
As for the cameras, the phone has a triple camera setup with a 64MP main camera. There is also a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP depth sensor at the back. For selfies, Black Shark 3S packs a respectable 20MP front camera.
Gaming is especially taxing on the phone’s battery, as most games draw more power than watching videos or web browsing, so gaming phones especially require beefier batteries. Black Shark 3S packs a 4,729mAh battery with fast charging support of 65W. This spec isn’t the best in the market, but will definitely last a few hours of gaming before going back to the charger.
Xiaomi Black Shark 3S Price & Where to Buy
The phone is only for sale in China right now. As it is a niche product for gaming, it is not likely to enter the Nepali market. Xiaomi Black Shark 3S price is CNY 3,999 ($570) for the base 12GB/128GB variant. It costs CNY 4,299 and 4,799 for 256GB and 512GB storage options.
