The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was announced alongside the new Galaxy Note 20 series in the recent Galaxy event. Following that, the key specs and design of the new foldable phone have gone public and there is a lot to unpack. For starters, the new Galaxy Z Fold 2 has seen many important changes to its design and specs that make it a lot more useful than its predecessor. It now has a bigger single display and gets rid of a camera notch at the side of the dual display. And we are even more excited as the phone is confirmed to launch here in Nepal. There is a lot to unfold in this article from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 price, specs, and design updates, so let’s get started.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Features & Specs
Galaxy Z Fold 2 Design
The most important change in the new Z Fold 2 is the change in the design and application of the Folding design. Previous Galaxy Fold had a similar design but also came with a smaller single display and a large front camera notch in the dual display.
Galaxy Z Fold 2, on the other hand, has a tall 6.2-inch narrow display with HD+ resolution. This makes it easier to use the phone in the folded mode as it has a bigger screen real estate. It also has a separate selfie camera in its hole-punch display with 10MP resolution.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 main dual display in unfolded mode measures at 7.6-inches and comprises of a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel. The display has a resolution of 1768 x 2208 pixels and supports HDR+ content. It also has a high refresh rate of 120Hz for a smooth experience, and the device supports a dynamic refresh rate from 11Hz to 120Hz based on the screen activity.
As for the hinge, the gap between the two displays is still visible with a thin indent in the middle. The phone can be folded from 75 to 115 degrees so users can use the phone in a dual-display mode. The display has thin bezels and low clutter thanks to the new punch-hole camera in the main dual display.
Performance & Camera Specs
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 also features the latest high-performance flagship processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 865+ chipset. It has a max clock speed of 3.09GHz and is accompanied by the Adreno 650 graphics unit. Galaxy Z Fold 2 also comes with a large 12GB RAM and a 256GB and 512GB storage configuration.
At the back, the Z Fold 2 features a triple camera setup with a 12MP, f/1.8 main camera that has Dual Pixel autofocus, and OIS support. There is also a handy 12MP zoom camera with a 2x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The front cameras include the 10MP cameras each on the single screen and on the dual-screen of the phone.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner easily accessible in the folded mode. The phone features a 4500 mAh battery along with fast charging support up to 25W. It also has fast wireless charging up to 11W. Given the bigger display and a secondary single display, the phone should run through battery life quickly. However, the smart switching between the displays and dynamic refresh rates should help in preserving battery life.
