Motorola P40 is the first offering from Motorola in 2019. It should launch in the first quarter of 2019 at a mid-range price range. Motorola makes some great budget and mid-range phones and the P40 specs leaked until now looks very promising.
Motorola P40 Specs and Rumors
P40 will feature the punch-hole design for a new look, eliminating the middle notch from the phone. It also looks more sturdy, and the build leaks suggest a rugged body construction with a metallic finish.
For the brain, the P40 features a Samsung Exynos 9610 Octa-core processor, for a performance boost, which comes with a Mali-G72 GPU. The SoC has four 2.3 GHz Cortex A73 cores and four 1.6 Cortex A53 cores. If the report is true, then Motorola P40 will be a very good performer overall. Reports suggest that the phone will be available with three variants viz. 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB RAM and storage options respectively.
Aside from the processor, the cameras on Motorola P40 is a significant upgrade over its predecessors. Renders of the phone show a dual camera set up at the back that will have a 48MP primary sensor with a 5MP depth sensor. The large 48 MP sensor puts this phone in the big leagues in terms of cameras with brands like OPPO, VIVO, Meizu etc. At the front, the punch-hole design encloses a 12MP selfie camera. The details are not confirmed yet, but the actual specs should be close to the specs mentioned here.
Overall, the Motorola P40 is going to offer appealing features with a very mainstream design. A 3500mAh battery will power the phone with support for USB-C fast charging. The availability of a fingerprint scanner is not confirmed as different renders of the phone suggest conflicting information. While most renders suggest no digit scanner at the back, a site named 91mobiles suggests that the scanner will be available with the phone. So take this info with a grain of salt!
