Fitness trackers are, now, more functional yet affordable than ever. Smartwatches are good but not everyone can afford it. Also, it is not a perfect choice for people who are into regular exercise. The shape and size of the smartwatches can be quite disturbing in the gym. However, that’s not the case with the smart bands. They’re just like the regular bracelets but with tons of features just like the smartwatches. Today, we are doing the full review of the Huawei Band 4. Let’s find out how this fitness tracker is and is it any different than other fitness trackers found in the market.

Huawei Band 4 Overview

The Huawei Band 4 is different than every other smart band in the market out there. The design, the build, and also, there’s a difference in the way we charge the smart band. The band is made of plastic and it has a good in-hand feel. Unlike other smart bands, we don’t get a charging dock inside the box. Well, that’s not the problem here! Huawei has reengineered the charger in this smart band. You have the physical lock button on the band and pressing it will help you remove the strap. Removing the strap, you will notice a USB which helps you charge the smart band. No charger this time!

The Huawei Band 4 weighs just 24 grams and once you wear it, it’s doesn’t feel like you’re wearing something. The weight distribution is good and also the straps feel good. The strap that we get in this band is different than the one present in the Mi Band 3/ 4. The straps, here, are more of a watch type. The straps are made of silicon rubber and it feels quite good. I have been wearing this band for more than a month and so far so good, Huawei Band 4 has been one of the best smart bands for me.

Display

Unlocking the device for the first time is simple. You just put the USB into the charger or a regular power bank and the device is ON. Good implementation Huawei! Moving forward, the Huawei Band 4 has 0.96 inches full touch-responsive TFT color display that actually looks good. It would be better if Huawei opted with the OLED panel but considering the price, the display looks good and the touch response is good too. And yes, the display is visible outdoors even in a broad daylight. You can now change the watch faces in the Huawei Band 4 from the Huawei Health app. There are a lot of faces to choose from.

Features

Setting up the Huawei Band 4 is simple. You just turn on the band and connect it with the Huawei Health app. The app is present out of the box in most of the Huawei devices but if you are using any other smartphone other than Huawei, you can simply download the app from the Play Store. The Huawei Band 4 has different unique features than any other band in this price range. There is nine sports mode in this band.

The Huawei Band 4 can measure the heart rate and our steps like any other fitness trackers and it is quite accurate. Also, the band can measure SpO2 which is not present in the bands from either Xiaomi or Honor.

The smart band has some basic features like continuous heart monitoring, alarm, activity reminder, app notifications, weather reports, stopwatch, and timer. Some of the new features that I really liked about the Huawei Band 4 are that now we can play/ pause, play next/ previous track, and also increase or decrease the volume of the phone’s music app directly from the band itself. The band is water-resistant up to 5ATM like the Mi Bands.

Huawei TruSleep™ feature

The sleep tracking of the Mi Band 3/ 4 is good. The Mi Fit app provides quite good data about our sleep but if we look at Huawei’s Health app, it’s much better. The sleep data is well-populated and we can get ample information in the app itself. The app analyzes our sleeping and provides more than 200 personalized sleep quality assessments and improvement suggestions. The Health app knows when we slept and when we woke up and it provides data for every moment of our sleeping. The app provides us the data about:

  • Our total night sleep,
  • Deep sleep,
  • Light sleep,
  • REM sleep,
  • Deep sleep continuity,
  • Awake, and
  • Breathing quality

Battery

Talking about the battery in this smart band, it has a 91mAh non-user removable battery which, on our testing period, gave about 7 to 9 days on a single charge. The Huawei TruSleep™ and raise to wake features were turned on all the time and the phone was connected to the phone. For charging from 10% battery,  it took about 95 to 105 minutes. Considering the features of the smart band, the battery life is good, however, it is definitely not a battery champion.

Huawei Band 4 Review: Verdict

At the price of Rs. 4,400 the Huawei Band 4 is a good fitness tracker. The TruSleep™ feature is one of the best in its price segment. For anyone willing to buy a fitness tracker, we highly suggest the Huawei Band 4. Using this smart band for more than a month, we felt no issues regarding the features malfunction or any other issues.
