Performance
For a day to day use, Huawei Nova 3i is the best phone you can buy. The performance of Kirin 710 is smooth and there is no trouble in multitasking. One notable extra in Nova 3i, which is complemented with AI, is voice control. Users can launch the voice-assistant function, which can not only pull information but can also perform hands-free functions, such as opening an application, setting an alarm clock or even send messages.
Consisting powerful Game Suite, the Nova 3i brings a superior gaming experience. Also, a new GPU accelerating technology named GPU Turbo greatly improves the GPU performance and efficiency of the device when running PUBG MOBILE and Asphalt 8. The Huawei Nova 3i also supports the Uninterrupted Gaming mode that blocks non-critical notifications, as well as a quick transition between Wi-Fi and 4G connection.
Camera
For selfies, the Huawei Nova 3i has a dual camera set up at the front. The primary sensor is a 24MP lens with f/2.0 wide aperture that boasts image processing power. Simultaneously, the AI capabilities help identify human subjects and apply the correct beautifications effects. The AI also helps in digitally processing the images helping to capture natural and clear HD selfies. The phone has not got the front screen flash but if you open front camera in the dark, the AI will automatically brighten the screen for assistance.
There is also a dual rear camera setup with a 16MP primary sensor and 2MP secondary sensor. The former captures images, while the latter retains depth data to create the AI-enhanced images. The AI, here, can recognize over 500 scenarios in 22 general categories. These cameras are also enhanced by Huawei’s AI software, and the credit goes to the new chipset.
How can we forget 3D Qmoji and AR stickers? The phone is also capable of some fascinating AR emojis which Huawei call Qmoji. This feature is not as perfect as the one on the iPhone X but gets your job done. Since this feature uses the selfie camera unlike iPhone’s dedicated sensor, the expressions are not accurate. But it’s better to have something than nothing.
The AI on the Nova 3i is can recognize objects in images and modify the settings accordingly. During our review period, the detection was pretty accurate. The AI is also present in the image gallery, letting users search for images using time, date or even objects.
AI-Powered Smart Gallery
Searching for photos are, now, easier and faster. The Gallery app, now, supports more complex definitions when querying for locally stored photos. All thanks to AI, the new Gallery app can automatically identify eight different photo themes, including birthdays, parties, graduations, nights out, sporting events, weddings, travels and more. It also automatically classifies photos into these themes. The AI divides the photos into 15 large categories and 100 small genres, including food, scenery, documents, accessories, sports, and animals.
Communications
The Huawei Nova 3i has a better communication which is also enhanced by AI. If you are in a noisy environment, the phone will use AI for ambient noise cancellation. This integrated function amplifies soft whispers and nullifies noisy backgrounds, transforming all calls to high-quality conversations. In our review period, making calls on this device was heaven.
