Xiaomi is making an immense preparation for the debut of their flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 7. The flagship, this year, will come in two variants, namely the Mi 7 and the Mi 7 plus. The device is expected to launch at the end of this April but the report suggests that it may fall behind the schedule because of some technicalities with its new 3D sensing technology. You heard it right, Xiaomi is following in the footstep’s of Apple and is trying to implement the 3D face mapping technology. Also, Xiaomi has embedded the much-applauded innovation from VIVO- the under screen supersonic fingerprint sensor into this device.
The base variant of the Mi 7 is expected to have an IPS LCD screen of a 5.6-inch screen while the Plus variant may have AMOLED display panel of 6.01 inch. Both the device will have FHD+ resolution and a new trendy feature of 18:9 aspect ratio(bezel-less).The device will be powered by Snapdragon 845 SOC- a 2.4 GHz octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The device performance, without a doubt, will be top-notch and users will experience smooth performance without any lags. Furthermore, Xiaomi is going to extend the RAM by whopping 6 GB in base variant and 8 GB in the Plus variant. Like its predecessor, the Mi 7 is also going to have limited storage capacity of 64GB for base variant and 128GB for the Plus variant. These phones is expected to be sleek, ergonomic and may come in glass and metal design.
The leaked images suggest that Xiomi Mi 7 is following the trend of Dual-Camera setup which right now seems a bit old-fashioned as its rival, Huawei, has already managed to showcase radical innovation with a Tri-Camera setup. But still, Xiaomi has managed to include 16MP+16MP Camera at the rear and a 20MP selfie shooter at the front. Xiaomi boasts that the camera will be equipped with its next-generation AI image processing technology that takes best portrait-mode images and processes and delivers best image quality under different conditions. Both the camera is expected to have a 4k recording capability and a slow-mo option for the rear camera. The primary camera at the rear is supposed to be a normal shooter with OIS built-in for motion stabilization. While the secondary camera seems to be a telephoto lens to capture in-depth details of the background.
The Mi 7 is expected to run on Android Oreo with, its customized skin, MIUI 9.0 on top of it. The Mi 7 is rumoured to have support for dual SIM slots (both NANO) and can easily handle 4G LTE network carrier. The device will also have connectivity option like dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C port for fast charging. The Mi 7 is also rumoured to support 7.5W Qi-wireless charging which is first for a Xiaomi smartphone. The device will be powered by massive 4480mAh Li-On battery so the users will not feel the constant need to fuel the device. Xioami claims that Mi 7 will come with IP68 dust and water resistant rating. Also, the device will have double bottom firing speakers that will be louder than any other Xioami smartphones.
The most highlighting feature of Mi 7 is going to be its 3D face sensing technology that maps facial structure to make the phone secure using Face Lock technology. Another speciality about this phone is going to be the ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor beneath the screen. Let’s hope the Mi 7 be a better competitor in its target market and price segment compared to Huawei, Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo.
