Samsung has officially launched their latest budget smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) here in Nepal. As the name suggests, the phone is the successor to the previous J2 which was launched back in 2016. The phone after a month from its official launch has finally made its way to Nepal. Here is a look at everything the latest budget smartphone from Samsung has to offer.
“Galaxy J2 2018 reiterates Samsung’s commitment towards meaningful innovations that delight our customers. For avid social media users, Samsung’s proprietary ‘Move to Memory Card’ feature is an advanced memory management solution that de-clutters the internal memory, thereby enhancing the smartphone experience.” Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, Head IM Biz
Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) overview
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) packs a 5-inch qHD IPS display with a pixel density of 220PPI. The display comes edged out by a 2.5D glass which gives users a seamless experience. And encasing the internals of the phone is a metal chassis with a removable plastic back.
Under the hood, the J2 (2018) packs a quad-core Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 processor along with an Adreno 308 GPU. The processor is backed by 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The memory of the phone can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 256GB. The J2 (2018) also supports dual-sim cards and is 4G capable.
In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) packs a f/2.2 8MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. The phone also has a f/2.2 5MP front camera for all your social media ready selfies. Moving on, at the software front, the device runs Samsung UX based on Android 7.1 Nougat. Running a custom skin, the phone brings a lot of useful features like Device Maintainance and an innovative memory saver.
The J2 (2018) sadly, this time around too, doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner. We would have really appreciated it if the phone hadn’t opted out on such an important sensor. The J2 (2018), however, packs other sensors like an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and a digital compass. Moving on, the phone offers various connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack.
And finally powering this device all up is a 2600mAh user-removable battery. This coupled with the qHD display will be enough to get users through a day of usage on a single charge. And if the battery does run out, you can always swap it in for a spare.
