Telecell Pvt. Ltd, the official distributor of Oppo smartphones in Nepal, has launched the Oppo A83. After almost a week of teasing the phone on their official Facebook page, it is finally here. With a price tag of Rs 24,990, here are all the things the phone brings to the table.
The Oppo A83 packs a 5.7-inch HD FullView Display with a pixel density of 282PPI. The display comes encased in a glass and metal body with a 2.5D glass edging it out. Under the hood, the phone packs an octa-core MediaTek MT6763T Helio P23 along with the Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. The processor of the phone is backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The memory of the phone can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 256GB. The phone also supports dual-sim cards and is 4G capable.
The Oppo A83 also has a f/2.2 13MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. The phone also packs an 8MP front camera for all your social media worthy selfies.
And it is not just a run of the mill selfie shooter!
The camera is assisted by A.I. smart beauty technology so that you can create exclusive looking selfies. Oppo claims that this technology is like a thinking photographer rather than a rigid software program. The Beauty Recognition Technology employs a cloud database from premium suppliers that have sufficient power to support diversified facial recognition in smart terminals.

Moving on, at the software front, the phone runs Color OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. Sadly the phone, this time around, doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner. However, to make up for this the A83 offers facial recognition to unlock the phone. Having facial recognition is great and all but it would have been better if Oppo had packed an FPS too. And finally, powering this device all up is a 3180mAh non-user removable battery.
“We are really grateful for the continuous love and support from our customers. Through their love and support, we have been successful in establishing OPPO as an established brand in Nepal in such a short span of time.” -Mr. Bobby Zhao (CEO, OPPO Nepal)
The Oppo A83 is available for you to purchase starting today (25th Jan) in Oppo retail stores across the nation. At launch, the A83 is available in two color variants- Gold and Black. There is, however, a rumor of a rose gold/pink color variant launching soon. The Oppo A83 looks to be a decent mid-tier smartphone that has a lot to offer. The almost bezel-less design, Face unlock, and AI-powered selfie camera is some of the things to look forward in the phone. If you are someone looking to buy a mid-tier smartphone under Rs 25,000 in Nepal, the Oppo A83 is a viable option.
