HMD Global has officially launched their latest mid-tier smartphone for 2018, the Nokia 5.1. As the name suggests, the phone is the follow up to last years Nokia 5. Nokia has brought a lot of improvements to the phone including a better display and camera. Including these, here is everything the phone brings to the table for a starting price of $219.
Nokia 5.1: Overview
The Nokia 5.1 packs a 5.5 inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) IPS display with a pixel density of 439PPI. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass (unspecified) and is edged out by a 2.5D glass. If you were expecting a FullView Display with 18:9 aspect ratio, it sadly isn’t here. And encasing this display is an aluminum shell which gives the overall phone a premium look and feels.
Under the hood, the phone packs a 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P18 processor coupled with the Mali-T720 GPU. The processor is backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The Nokia 5.1 also comes in a 3GB RAM variant with 32GB of internal storage, but it will run you $253. The internal memory of the phone can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 256GB. The phone also supports dual-sim cards and is 4G capable.
In the camera department, the Nokia 5.1 packs a f/2.0 16MP rear camera along with a dual-tone LED flash. The phone also has a f/2.0 8MP front camera for all your selfies. Software-wise, the phone runs Android One with Android 8.0 Oreo as its base. It is a sweet offering from Nokia!
