JIPL, the official makers of OTTO phones, has launched a new budget smartphone, the OTTO Frank 7 here in Nepal. The phone, which is the second to carry the Frank branding, continues the trend of providing great value for a fraction of the price. Speaking of price, the phone is priced at a wallet-friendly tag of just Rs 8,596. Let’s take a quick look at the phone and what it has to offer for the price.

About the OTTO Frank 7

The OTTO Frank 7 packs a 5 inch HD IPS display with a pixel density of 294PPI. The display is edged out by a 2.5D glass giving users a seamless experience. Encasing the internals of the phone is a metallic shell which looks and feels premium. Under the hood, the phone packs an octa-core MediaTek MT6580A  processor along with the ARM Mali-400 MP2 GPU. The processor is backed by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The memory of the phone can be furthered expanded via a micro-sd card up to 64GB. The phone also supports dual-sim cards but sadly is not 4G capable.

In the camera department, the OTTO Frank sports a 5MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. The phone also comes with a 2MP front camera, with a flash, for all your social media ready selfies. And sitting just below the rear camera is a fingerprint scanner embedded into the phone’s back panel. This inclusion is marvelous for a phone which is priced below Rs 10,000. Moving on, at the software front, the phone runs a skinned version of Android 7.0 Nougat. And finally powering this device all up is a 2000mAh non-user removable battery.

The OTTO Frank 7 look to be a compelling smartphone for those on a tight budget. The fingerprint scanner and the HD display are the major strengths of the phone. The metal back of the Frank 7 is another thing that is great about the device. It is just amazing how OTTO was able to pack all these at this price range! Though it is asking too much, I do wish that OTTO has included 2GB of RAM instead of just 1GB. That said, the phone still holds a bargain for anyone looking for a capable smartphone under Rs 10,000 here in Nepal.
