Lava has officially launched their latest mid-tier smartphone, the Lava R3 here in Nepal. The phone, like the trends of today, sports an 18:9 near bezel-less display. Not only that but the R3 has a lot to offers both in terms of design and specs. Let’s us take a deeper look at the phone and explore the things it brings to the table for a tagged price of Rs 18,499.
The Lava R3 packs a 5.7-inch HD+ IPS display with an 18:9 near bezel-less design. The display is edged out by a 2.5D glass giving users a seamless experience. Under the hood, the R3 sports a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor along with the Mali-T720 GPU. The processor is backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The memory of the phone can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 128GB.

In the camera department, the Lava R3 packs a 13MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. The phone also comes with an 8MP front camera for all your social media ready selfies. And just sitting below the rear cameras is a fingerprint scanner embedded into the phone’s back panel. Moving on, at the software front, the R3 runs Star OS 4.2 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. And finally, powering this device all up is a 3000mAh non-user removable battery. This coupled with the 720p display will be enough to get users through a day worth usage on a single charge without any issues.
The Lava R3 looks to be a decent mid-tier smartphone that offers a lot for the price. That said, we wish Lava has included a dual-camera setup, a bottom firing speaker (instead of the rear firing speaker), and some powerful silicon. That being said, the phone is still a great choice for anyone looking for a great mid-tier smartphone under Rs 20,000 here in Nepal.
