Ten years ago, Samsung introduced their first Galaxy phone. The design and features of their smartphones have come a long way since then. The Samsung phone that we see today is a complete change from the one ten years back. We have seen the company rise and also suffer in the last couple of years. The Chinese smartphone manufacturers pricing their phones aggressively affected Samsung a lot. They have also been taking a major chunk of the market away from the South Korean giant. And now it seems that Samsung is all set to regain its throne back.
2018 has been an important year for Samsung, as we’ve seen Samsung try new ideas successfully. And 2019 is going to be even more of a success as the company celebrates its tenth anniversary of the Galaxy series. Next month, Samsung will redefine the flagship market with the Galaxy S10 lineup. But before that, Samsung is planning to disrupt the mid-tier segment with the new Galaxy M series. The Galaxy M series will debut globally on 28th of January in India. The company is expected to launch the Galaxy M10, M20, and even the M30.
The Galaxy M series is Samsung’s attempt to start something new and entice more consumers. It is true that companies like Xiaomi, Realme, and Asus offer better value to customers when it comes to budget or mid-tier devices. Samsung really needs to introduce some new technologies to draw customers from the likes of these brands. Samsung, finally, has an answer to the competition, the Galaxy M series. The Galaxy M series is going to bring some first-time features on a Samsung phone like the Infinity-V displays and massive battery capacity. Here are 5 things you should know about the Galaxy M series before it is officially unveiled.
Samsung Galaxy M Highlights
Infinity-V Display
The Samsung Galaxy M-series aims to attract the ‘young millennials’. This means Samsung will most likely bring some changes to the design of this series. Samsung is finally adopting the notch which Samsung calls the Infinity-V display. The notch will look somewhat like the Waterdrop display, a trend that became popular in the second half of 2018. The Infinity-V display will provide an immersive screen with minimal bezels and more screen real estate.
USB Type-C
The Galaxy M series will also bring a much needed Type-C port. But wait, it’s not just a regular USB Port! The one on the M series comes with fast charging technology. Hats off! It’s pretty rare to see this in the mid-tier segment. And even more rare on an affordable Samsung smartphone.
Huge Battery
Samsung is still trolled for their battery in the Galaxy Note 7. But now, the company is 101% sure about the quality of their batteries. Another highlighting feature of the Galaxy M series will be their massive battery. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy M20 and M30 will be Samsung’s first phone to come with a massive 5,000mAh battery. The M10, however, may only get a 3,400mAh battery which is still not that bad.
At least dual rear camera setup
Samsung has already confirmed that the M series phones will feature at least dual rear camera. The bigger M30 may also feature the triple camera setup. Sounds interesting, right? Some reports also suggest that the phones may offer an ultra wide-angle lens as well. It would be quite unique to see these camera set up in this segment.
No Pie
Various leaked benchmarks have confirmed, recently, that the Galaxy M series smartphones will launch with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. However, the Android 9.0 is on the cards. The consumers, however, may have to wait a while to receive the Pie update as the update is scheduled for August of this year. There is also a possibility that the Galaxy M series may get Samsung’s new One UI skin with the Pie update.
Samsung Galaxy M Price in Nepal
There is a possibility that the Samsung Galaxy M series phones may arrive in Nepal soon. Samsung has currently dropped the price of a lot of their phones. Maybe they are creating some space for these new models. If Samsung is serious about taking on the competition, the pricing will be crucial. The Galaxy M10 can be priced at Rs 14,500 and the price may go up to Rs 35,000 for the Galaxy M30.
