On Tuesday, Lenovo announced the new Z5 Pro GT with a whopping 12GB of RAM. It is the world’s first phone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. It is also the first phone to sport 12GB of RAM. The phone was announced alongside the Lenovo Z5s. Instead of the notch, the phone has a slider design that brings the front shooter, basic sensors and IR scanner with a slide.
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT Overview
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT features a 6.39-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The display has a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and a pixel density of 403ppi. The device also comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
Powering the Z5 Pro GT is an octa-core Snapdragon 855 SoC that is based on a 7nm process. The new chipset was announced earlier this month, and the first smartphone with this processor is from Lenovo. The powerful chipset is coupled with 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB RAM options. The Z5 Pro GT has either 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of onboard storage options.
On the optics, the Z5 Pro GT has dual rear camera setup with a 16MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX519 sensor alongside a 24MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX576 sensor. The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT also has a dual camera set-up at the front that comes with a primary 16MP (f/2.2) sensor and a secondary 8MP with an IR sensor to enable the Face Unlock functionality. The front camera sits on the siding structure that also has sensors such as IR, ambient light as well as an earpiece. The sliding structure uses six parallel slides, double-helical structure, and AI smart antennas.
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT runs ZUI 10 on top of Android 9.0 (Pie) out of the box. Fueling the Z5 Pro GT is a 3,350mAh non-user removable battery. The connectivity options on this device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. Sensors on board include an ambient light sensor, hall sensor, electronic compass, gravity sensor, IR, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. There is also an in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the smartphone by placing a registered finger on its display. The phone measures 155.12×73.04×9.3mm and weigh 210 grams.
Lenovo Z5 Pro GT price and availability
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT will be available for pre-orders in China starting January 15, while its sale will begin from January 24. The smartphone will be available in a Carbon Black color option with carbon fiber finish on top. In China, the price of Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is 2,698 Yuan (around NRs 43,500) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant, while its 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant costs 2,998 Yuan (around NRs 48,500) and the 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage variant costs 3,398 Yuan (around NRs 55,000).
There is also the top-of-the-line 12GB RAM/512GB storage variant of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT that comes with a price tag of 4,398 Yuan (around Rs. 72,000). As for the expected price in Nepal, we may not see this phone here.
