The Huawei Nova 3e and the Oppo F7 are two of the hottest premium mid-range smartphone under Rs 40,000 right now in Nepal. The Nova 3e is priced at Rs 35,900 while the F7 comes in at Rs 36,590. Both these devices have their own strength and weakness making them a unique piece of technology. But having used both the devices, the Nova 3e might have a slight edge over its Oppo counterpart. Here are 5 reasons just why the Nova 3e is better than the Oppo F7.
1. Build
Both the Huawei Nova 3e and the Oppo F7 are well-built devices that look absolutely stunning. That said, the Oppo F7 has gone a weird route and used a plastic body. Although the back looks like it’s made from glass, it definitely isn’t. The glossy back of the F7 may look alluring but it actually is just cheap plastic. The Nova 3e, on the other hand, packs an actual glass back with a metal chassis. This not only gives the phone a premium look but also a great in-hand feeling. If you have read our review of the Nova 3e, you will probably know that we can’t stop gushing over its in-hand feel. Trust me, it is miles better than the plasticky feeling Oppo F7!
2. Software
Both the Oppo F7 and the Nova 3e runs a custom skin with Android 8.0 Oreo as its base. Oppo has their Color OS while Huawei boasts their EMUI. Both the phones, like the current trend, lack an app drawer by default. While Huawei does give you the option to have an app drawer, if need be, Oppo sadly doesn’t. I know, I can easily download a third party launcher an get the app drawer. But having it pre-included is always a welcomed addition!
Not only the app drawers but the UI from Huawei packs a great level of customizability. It also is the better looking UI among the two. Although the UI from Oppo has come a long way, I still see the IOS inspiration on some elements. EMUI, on the other hand, looks more modern with markedly functional UI elements.
3. Dual-cameras
Dual-cameras are slowly becoming a standard in the premium mid-tier smartphone segment. It looks like almost all the OEM’s are packing dual-cameras on their smartphones. Sadly, this isn’t the case for the Oppo F7! The phone goes the traditional route and offers a single camera setup at the front as well as the rear. For Rs 36,590, it is kind of a bummer not having a dual-camera setup! The Huawei Nova 3e, on the contrary, packs a dual-camera set up made by a 16MP and a 2MP sensor. This secondary sensor is a great addition and helps add those bokehlicious effects, to images, we all love. Needless to say, the Oppo F7 doesn’t have this feature.
4. Compact Design
Both the Oppo F7 and the Huawei Nova 3e are good looking devices that take on the notch design. But that’s where the similarities end! The Oppo F7 goes the iPhone route and packs a body with a larger width. Packing 156 x 75.3 x 7.8 mm in dimensions, the Oppo F7 is a large(r) phone even with the FullView display. The Huawei Nova 3e, on the contrary, packs a compact body with dimensions of 148.6 x 71.2 x 7.4 mm. This makes the phone ergonomic and viable for one-hand usability. If you are someone who is constantly texting or multi-tasking on the go, you will appreciate the compactness of the Nova 3e.
5. USB Type-C and Fast Charging
Huawei, with the Nova 3e, has finally listened to their consumers and packed in a USB Type-C port. Not only that but they also have gone in and added, the much needed, fast charging capabilities. You can easily fuel up the 3000mAh non-user removable battery on the Nova 3e with this combo. On the flip side, the Oppo F7 skimps out on the USB Type-C port for the old school USB Type-2.0. Besides that, the phone also doesn’t come with any fast charging capabilities! This makes charging the 3400mAh battery of the F7 a chore. Expect to be plugged in for at least 2 to 2½ hours to get a 100% charge. Definitely a bummer on Oppo’s part!
So these were some of the reason why the Huawei Nova 3e is better than the Oppo F7. We also have another article where we talk about why the Oppo F7 is better than the Huawei Nova 3e. That said, both these phones are excellent devices and come in roughly at the same price. There is no doubt, users will be more satisfied with the purchase of any of the two smartphones.
