COOLPAD Nepal Teases a New Smartphone

by Samrat Amatya

COOLPAD Nepal just dropped a video teasing an upcoming smartphone. The clip shows and eccentric phone with an eye-catching gradient design and what looks to be a Quad-camera setup. But before we speculate about the phone, let’s talk about COOLPAD in general.

COOLPAD is a Chinese smartphone brand founded in 1993. The brand initially came to Nepal back in 2017 under Jaima Intercontinental Pvt. Ltd. Now the brand is back under a new distributor, SD International Pvt. Ltd. With this change, the company launched the Cool X, Cool 6, N7 Plus, and Cool 5 in Nepal.

And now the company is teasing a brand new phone. From the teaser itself, not a lot can be known about the device. Even as I write this article, COOLPAD Nepal has dropped another teaser on their Facebook/Instagram Page. The new video teases something wider and that it will launch in 4 days. This obliviously is a homage to the wide-angle camera that the phone may pack. Seems like COOLPAD will be releasing such teasers until the official unveiling of the phone.

One thing I noticed in the teaser itself is how thick the phone is. This indicates that the phone will most likely have a large battery. The cell may have a capacity of anywhere from 4500-5000mAh. Also, if other recently launched COOLPAD phones are of reference, the new device will most definitely have a MediaTek processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

We can also expect a glass build with gradient colour options to choose from. Given all its other specs, COOLPAD simply can’t miss out on providing a 6+ inch FHD panel with either a pop-up or a punch-hole front camera set up. This is something we can’t guess based on the rear side shown in the teaser. So, what about pricing? Given all that the phone packs it would be safe to assume that it will cost around Rs 20,000 – Rs 25,000. This is in line with all the mid-tier offerings currently available in the market.

We definitely will keep you informed as things continue to develop. For now, all we can do is speculate what COOLPAD Nepal has in store for us on the 8th of January 2021. So what do you think? Which phone do you guess COOLPAD is teasing in their latest series of videos? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
